Our Story
Beautiful stones, gathered by the sea
The Name
What the tide leaves behind
In Swahili, mawe zuri means beautiful stones — the smooth, sea-polished pebbles that gather in the shallows at low tide. It felt like the truest name for a place shaped entirely by the ocean's patient hand.
We began with a single idea: that a resort could feel less like a destination and more like coming home to the coast. Every wall, every path, every doorway was placed to frame the sea and slow the day.
Today, Mawe Zuri is a small family of villas and open-air spaces where the boundary between inside and outside gently disappears.
Our Philosophy
Luxury measured in stillness
Rooted in place
Built from local stone and timber, shaped by the hands of coastal artisans and the traditions of the Swahili shore.
Quiet by design
Space to breathe, unhurried service and interiors that invite stillness rather than spectacle.
Kind to the coast
Solar-warmed water, reef-safe practices and partnerships that protect the ocean we call home.
